No, expertise is engine code.LittleLostThief wrote:Maybe give mages a real penalty for using expertise. Can you script it to lower the DC of their spells by five if they are in expertise mode?
Closest thing to it would be to lower their DC's if they have the expertise feat. Whether in expertise or not.

Ice Storm. It has no save. Therefore, it suffers no penalty from the -5 DC to spell, even if it could be implemented.
Thought it was implied. :-/

Correct, all evasion stuff is gone now. I also took away alot more AC stuff from the mages yesterday. I can see why they could get so high, they were the only class with +5 armors.Well since evasion is gone for anyone who isn't a monk, rouge,sd or gnome (zomg who plays a gnome different then a sneak or mage?) We have the true mage haeven once again... Well ice storm always does dmg unless you are 100% immune to cold dmg.
Also I added some items that should help monks take out mages.

I can't change expertise. I can only make it illegal to take, remove the feat from taking it, and remove it from WM's auto-pick feats on levelup.
I might be able to make it so any non-warrior type class can't take it at levelup. This would allow a fighter/mage multiclass get it to though.
Remove the feat from the list feats is possible, just WM's would need a download similar to SD's now.
But as said before, I can't modify the expertise code, its in the engine code. This might explain why when you mentioned it before I didn't do anything on it.

Top ways to reduce mage power:
1. Lower AC, allow getting hit alittle easier.
2. Get rid of their immunity to knockdown, make them get disc.
3. Add +5 weapons
4. Remove some int/chr boost items
5. Prevent premo/stskin from stacking
6. Jail anyone taking expertise if they have 1 lvl of any 2 mage classes.
Now you can pick what is best to balance mages. All of them would weaken mages but what is the best option. Some people say one thing, some say other things. I get stuff with taking in input from everyone which all have different opinions so I have to go with the best thing that I think. Now when you change one area it could effect others, just not your typical lvl 20 sorcerer.
