I didn't think the PC version was crappy at all. I liked FF7 so I bought it ... uh... omgs, like a billion years ago for PC. Actually I don't think that I bought it, it was a birthday gift from my mom. Wasn't that nice of her? I never had any problems with the PC version, in fact I kind of liked the save option since you could save a billion saved files instead of just a couple on your memory stick or whatever it was. I made a new save every time I came to a different save point just in case. But as far as functionality, I couldn't really see any problems with it. In fact, if I turned the graphics all the way down I'm pretty sure it ran faster than on a PS which was just fine with me.
Final Fantasy VIII (PS)
Release Date: Sep 7, 1999
Final Fantasy VIII (PC)
Release Date: Dec 31, 1999
The PSone version came out first but it was also released officially for the PC. A quick look at the wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_VIII reveals that "This rerelease featured smoother graphics, enhanced audio, and the inclusion of Chocobo World, a minigame starring Boko, a Chocobo featured in one of Final Fantasy VIII's side-quests." That bonus chocobo mini-game was not really fun (black and white gameboy style) but the items you can get there can be transferred to the real game.
Final Fantasy VII (PS)
Release Date: Sep 3, 1997
Final Fantasy VII (PC)
Release Date: May 31, 1998
FFVII was also released for the PC. It kinda sucked though coz you can just look for the movie files in the CDs and play them there.
Yeah, i know these coz I once owned both the FFVII and FFVIII PC versions.
