Or make it very hard on them. Such as lowering there movement speed and there hide (not ms, the speed gear does that for them already) by a % rather then a set rate. I'd say 25%.

Its hard to script for the movement script. I wish I could just add it to the range weapons.

NWKnights has a script just like that only works with ranged weapons. im sure we could ask them for it.

and in my opinion sling does not count as a throwing weapon because it requires both a weapon and ammo, not just ammo. the game may consider it a throwing weapon, but i do not. i requires alot of money to be able to carry both a decent sling, bullets and a good melee weapon, especially if your fighting meleers and CS rangers.

some better sneakers (like casas, widget, and i) carry both melee and ranged weapons. that way even if theri opponent grabbed axes or darts to take them out ranged, they just switch to their melee when throwing weapon is equipped tag, and run, not leaving enough time for a switch and attack. CSing will always be a problem no matter where you play and there will be no solution for it besides getting rid of any class capable of taking hide/ms which is almost half of the core classes. the main issue as to why they are such a problem is because people dont know how to change gear around to fight them. those smart enough to still suffer in other various ways.

but yes a melee sneaker can make ranged CSers and monks cower in fear (as long as they aren't mutha frakking elves : ( ) tehy cower in fear as soon as i log on shanks (just ask fister , with his low HP i can eat him down in three attacks)

I still don't agree with this. I've played with many CS'ing archers and yes they suck, however.. they are not gods. They have about 15 less Hide and MS than melee CS'ers. Why decrease there speed? What if there is a character that actually doesn't CS and uses a bow?

Or is Gnarr still talking about Monk Archer CS'ers? I say make monks unable to use ranged weapons.. and only can use throwing weaopns. Kinda like paladins except backwards. This way if they can't do high damage and have decent AB and such at the same time.

Said that so long ago, but everyone dismissed it. Monks should only be able to use surikens, or have enough non monk levels to use a bow.

No, I'm not talking about monks with that. I'm also not just talking about balance issues with that either. I never said they were gods in fact I've said 1 on 1 they are quite easy to defeat. However in larger groups (what our server is made for) they can be nearly untouchable as you simply cannot afford the gear to combat them while keeping yourself able to hold off melees. This obviously gets easier as you level but for the most part the second you start dropping lots of cash for just the gear to spot them (nevermind saves for their traps) you've made yourself dead to melees or casters.

That however isn't even the biggest problem in my mind. In my mind they are one of the key reasons why people get frustrated with this server and leave. As I said before, I've heard numerous times (server times while I've been loitering on my DM account) people saying that they're leaving because of all the corner sneaking archers. These are not the same people day in and day out, they're different and some of them never come back.

Is what I'm suggesting unfair to archers? Yes it is. I, however would rather one style of combat be made unfairly weak to help prevent people from leaving our server because it's "not fun."

People complain about anything that is killing them though. If a mage is PK'ing them, they complain about them. If a bard is crushing them, they complain about them. I actually had someone complaining yesterday that Pale masters were overpowered and he left. Quite frankly everyone that gets owned will leave and complain. CS archers are just easier to make and do well at low levels. These archers actually blow so bad at high levels, you never see them.

You say its hard to defend CS archers with other melee's as well. Yes, I'd imagine it is. Try defending against a mage and melee, just as hard. Normally if you can have your rogueish teammates hunt down the archers, it normally keeps them under control.

But all stealth archers will CS. If they don't have that surprise attack they lose to any class out there. Same with stealth melee's, but atleast the melee's can be spotted before getting there and be knock'd down. This is reason why I made the melee ones better at stealth than there range counterparts.

As for archer monks. I haven't seen a reason why they can't use bows or x-bows. They are weak to every class. Get some DR and a throwing weapon. Even your crappy dex will hit them.

The only way to rid of cs archers is to put a -50 to hide/ms on all range weapons. Obviously destroying the class.

Well bows get more APR. If they used xbows, they get 2 apr capped..
