Ok, then I could have it so people that kill a 20 gets more depending on how gold savy the 20 is.
I think a 16 gets 250 XP for a 20. (Even if its not, lets use the numbers )
Lets say the 20 is really 25 by way of gold.
Now the level 16 will get 300 XP. (Maybe 10 XP per extra level worth of gold they have)
Level 16 killing a level 37 in gold. Gets 420 XP.
Just an example to help 16+ since sometimes lets face it. Kerrie is too the point now that my gold makes me unstoppable against most or all level 16's.
However I'd rather give the winning team more xp that way it might make more people play as a team. (Only flaw with this is its harder for people keep the teams fair. Losing team gets slightly screwed.)

I agree that level 20 characters should get some more for "taking care" of their lower levels. Even more prides might be a good idea. But even that isn't a good enough reason for them to stay very long. This is a PvP server, and leveling is one of the strongest reasons people play. Of course, it is also fun to battle eachother, but after a while it gets old with no new levels, items, etc.Rary wrote:Don't know other than increase what they get for 1,2,3,4 pt'ers.
What about adding a store for level 20 only? It doesn't neccessarily need to have better equipment (and probably shouldn't), just different equipment. Some extra fun to make them want to stay longer?
(ALTERNATIVE)
Another idea just popping out of my head is a level 20 special arena mode where the level 20 character(s) must defend a castle against invasion from all the other characters. Who knows, it might be fun to see if they could last 10 minutes against a flowing horde of lower level characters without being able to respawn? This mode could be activated once per day for a level 20 character for each player and voted for as a normal map or something like that. Only level 15 and below allowed against the level 20 character. If they beat the high level character within for example 10 minutes, gold, xp and prides to everyone. If not, gold, xp, and prides to the level 20 character successfully defending the castle. Who knows, it might be fun?
Anyway, just freak-of-the-moment ideas trying to figure out a way to get level 20 characters to stay. I haven't really thought through any of this, I am just wasting time at work. Just trying to help.

No doubt, people stay to level, once you hit 20, you lose that 'wanting to stay'. With the shop for only 20's? What would be the items? And why would they want them over ones already provided.Lord Mephisto wrote:I agree that level 20 characters should get some more for "taking care" of their lower levels. Now on Dragons Keep, I have item restrictions by level except for level 20, they can use any item regardless of the level required. I can do something similar to this which would give level 20's more powerful items. But then you get into 'too powerful' and battles aren't fun like BoW's. D&D was made for low levels. Whats wrong with a +3 Greataxe, 2d6 Sonic, with Keen and onhit Daze with DC 26? Not shabby I think, but right now that would require atleast level 21.
Your alternative solution sounds like something similar to the capture of the flag. In there 20's will benefit for sure.

You will not believe how much I appreciate the power of items being kept in line. That is one of the main reasons why I like this server.Rary wrote: Now on Dragons Keep, I have item restrictions by level except for level 20, they can use any item regardless of the level required. I certainly don't want more powerful items, but some different types of equipment would be fun. What exactly do I mean with different? Well, for example, cursed items or intelligent items? Who in their right minds would wear them? And simply more rings, amulets, boots, cloaks, etc. with different enchantement on them than those available in the common shops seen today. That could help make level 20 characters quite different in many ways, and lots of costly equipment would surely make them need to earn a little more xp and gold. Perhaps even restrict buying stuff with prides?
As said, just some simple thoughts.

So stuff like? a +2 str rings?
Adding items like that can throw the balance off.
Because right now their are alot of expensive items that only level 20 can really use without using all their money.
I've also thought about cashing prides or kills into armor or weapons to 'power' them up. You can add whatever effects you want and so on.
I've added special double bonuses for 20's, a topten list for people to strive on, use of dragons for lonely 20's. Everything in the sun to try to spark an interest for them.
Special items that aren't more powerful I don't think will do it. Custom items that they can make, maybe.

I think the Gratificator should give 1500 XP. Level 20's can't fight Dragons.
Cashing in Kills/ Prides for upgrades on weapons wouldn't work because if you change teams, most likely the weapon is gone. Unless when it's forged, a tag is added to the sword making it stay in the characters inventory.
But what if they wanted to sell it? How could they get the same sword back?

You don't sell it. Its a permenant custom weapon/armor specifically for you. I could make it undroppable and when you switch teams, it changes the colors on it.T3hRedMage wrote:Cashing in Kills/ Prides for upgrades on weapons wouldn't work because if you change teams, most likely the weapon is gone. I'd go with a script which allows you to change your appearance to a number of neat things. (Antiworld does this on halloween, it's fun being a skelly or zombie or flying pumpkin )
Yes yes I know gear won't show up for most but you're level 20 and most people who fight 20's are 20 so that makes for an even playing field along with the fact that we're trying to get more 20's to play and I think a slight power of people being unable to tell what you are is better then any kind of super weapon or gear.
