1.69? Fact or fiction.

Post by David »

The beta of the next patch has been released and it includes a *edited* of content. It includes, in the patch, numerous new tilesets, new prestige classes, but also handful fixes which might raise a red light with certain classes and builds. Not sure what will happen in that department, since it might start a wave of rebuilds.

I went through the features list and took out handful of things noticed as being most important, full list is available below:

Purple Dragon Knight prestige class.
Idea of what this PRC may be like.

It includes new tilesets:
Barrows Interior
Castle Exterior, Rural
Castle Interior 2
City Interior 2
Fort Interior
Sea Caves
Steamworks
Tropical

Also, 17 new music tracks, so those still playing with music on - yes I mean you twelve new players out there - may get to listen to them!

New Creatures:
Caladnei (NPC)
Cobra (Regular, Black and Gold )
Curst Swordsman
Gem Golems (Diamond, Emerald and Ruby)
G'Zhorb the All seeing Eye
Halaster
Harat, Lord of Darkness (Large and Small)
Horses (63 Different varients, plus mounted Humans, Elves, Half-Elves, Halflings, Gnomes, Half-Orcs and Dwarves)
Without feats and the like, I wonder if they can be used without looking akward.
Lord Antoine Baccha, Visier de Guise (NPC)
Maggris, the Hive Mother
Masterius (Regular, Disguised and Powerful)
Mist Dragon
Nightmare ( Regular, Saddled and Armored )
Ogre Chieftan
Purple Dragon Knight Archer (Female and Male)
Purple Dragon Knight Blade (Female and Male)
Satyr (Regular, Archer and Warrior)
Wereboar
Widow Hagatha
Wyvern (Great, Adult, Juvenile and Young)
(and over 100 new appearances for creatures)

350 new placeables and 100 new effects

However possible issues come from:
Feat prerequisite changes!!!
- The Epic Dodge feat now requires 30 ranks of Tumble skill as a prerequsite, as per the description (feat.2da).
- The "Dragon Shape" feat now requires Wild Shape 6x/day as per the description (feats.2da).
- Fixed prerequisite for "Epic Weapon Focus Club" to be "Weapon Focus Club" rather than "Improved Critical Club" (feat.2da).
- Weapon Specialization Club now requires four fighter levels to obtain (rather than one).

Trident weapon feats!
Their classification has also been changed to 'martial' and not 'simple' weapon.

It seems that you can disable viewing cloaks in nwnplayers.ini now.

Damage resistance bugs fixed when weapon does more than one type of damage!

Defensive roll works 1/day as per description.

Rapid Reload fixed! Gives proper amount of attacks.

Alot of description texts have been changed to match how they actually work.

- Blade Barrier now properly respects the Evasion and Improved Evasion feats

- Cursed song no longer affects silenced creatures

- Updated Weapon Finesse to work with all Creature Weapons regardless of the creature's size.

- Fixed the caster level being used for Holy Avengers (it is now always set to 10 as it is cast from an item, rather than using the player's paladin caster level).

- Fixes to Whirlwind/Improved Whirlwind/Great Cleave so that all the attacks are done at the player's full BAB.

- Fixed how Damage Resistance works against weapons that do more than one type of damage (i.e. Morning Stars and Halberds). The target now uses the worst of the multiple damage resistances angainst weapons that inflict more than one base weapon damage type.

- Added new nwnplayer.ini file setting to always roll maximum hit points at level up for players (defaults to off).
[Server Options]
Max Hit Points=1

- Added in-game text swear filter nwnplayer.ini setting (set to 1 to enable, only supports English).
[Game Options]
In-game Text Swear Filter=0

I also heard this rumor about an auto-downloader that would download .hak files that you didn't have from the server so you wouldn't have to seek them out somewhere else. However, that might be a bit too omghuge for the patch, but again, that's just what I hear.

Well Patches are free, expansions aren't. But it's also the LAST NWN Patch, so they might as well go out with a bang and fix all the issues. Just wish they added the Fighting Style like they have in CD. They just look so damn cool!

?? Lies, I can't believe they would patch a game after so many years. This will improve my image of them, they will move up from a puke toad to a slimy lizard. :) I look foward to this patch.

According to D&D Paper and Pencil version, the Purple Dragon Knight is as follows:

Requirements
Alignment: Non-evil, non-chaotic
BAB: +4
Skills: Diplomacy or Intimidate 1, Listen 2, Ride 2, Spot 2
Feats: Leadership, Mounted Combat
Special: Membership in the Purple Dragons

Build
BAB: Full
Saves: Fort
Skills: 2 + Int mod
Class Skills: Climb, Diplomacy, Intimidate, Jump, Ride, Swim
Weapon and Armor Proficiencies: Light Armor Proficiency, Medium Armor proficiency, Simple Weapon Proficiency, Shield Proficiency

1st: Rallying Cry, Heroic Shield
2nd: Inspire Courage (1/day)
3rd: Fear
4th: Oath of Wrath, Inspire Courage (2/day)
5th: Final Stand

Rallying Cry: The knight can utter a powerful shout (typically "For Cormyr!") that causes all allies within 60 feet to gain +1 morale bonus on their next attack roll and increases their speed by 5 feet until the knight's next turn. Traditionally, the rallying cry is used when a formation of soldiers is about to charge. This mind-affecting ability is usable up to three times per day.
Probable NWN Implementation: +1 bonus to attack rolls and maybe slight speed increase for six seconds.

Heroic Shield: A knight can use the aid another action to give an ally +4 circumstance bonus to AC instead of the normal +2.
Possible NWN Implementation: Target creature other than the knight gets +4 Deflection AC for a round/level. Probably will be left out or changed beyond recognition or even replaced.

Inspire Courage: This ability has the same effect as the bard ability of the same name. The knight makes an inspirational speech, bolstering allies against fear and improving their combat abilities. Blah blah blah long wall of text and rules.
Possible NWN Implementation: PDK's might get Bard Song?

Fear: Once per day, the knight can evoke a fear effect (DC 13 + charisma modifier) Allies are immune.
Possible NWN Implementation: Fear as per spell 1/day. No brainer

Oath of Wrath: Once per day, a knight can select a single opponent within 60 feet and swear an oath to defeat him. For the duration of the encounter, the knight has a +2 morale bonus on melee attack rolls, weapon damage, saves, and skill checks made against the challenged target. The effect is negated immediately if the knight makes an attack or casts a spell targeted at any creature except the challenged opponent (attacks of opportunity do not count) or if the knight uses a full round action to move away from the challenged opponent.
Possible NWN Implementation: Once per day, +2 attack rolls, damage, etc for round/level.

Final Stand: Once per day the knight can inspire his troops to a heroic effort, temporarily increasing their vitality. All allies within 10 feet gain 2d10 temp HP. This ability affects a number of creatures equal to the knight's class level + charisma mod and lasts an equal number of rounds.
NWN Implementation: Allies near you get 2d10 HP for 5 + charisma rounds... whoopie.

Don't expect to much out of this build at first. Most servers will probably nerf the hell out of it untill they have seen it's multi-class capabilities. Buuuut....Look at this class and think about it with a bard...I forsee some interesting builds from this PRC.

robable NWN Implementation: +1 bonus to attack rolls and maybe slight speed increase for six seconds.

I don't think the speed can be implemented, if it could be then barbarians wouldn't be so pooty with haste (only class that speed increase works in addition to haste is monks).

Oath of Wrath:

sweet sounding, shame it won't work against only one opponent like the pnp dictates, but that's impossible since aoo's and action cancels exist.

The temp HP could be based off level. Say a L40 (so he's 5 purple) could add 8d20 HP. Some type of modifier that scales with base level (since purple like harper is capped at 5).

Slooooooooooooowpoke.

http://kotaku.com/gaming/ea-grabs-two-d ... 309937.php

Full story. Really, EA should have been bought out by Bioware, given that EA makes all these horrid games. Bioware could've given them some pointers...
