This is where all Eternal War game suggestions should go.

Starting level at 4?

How about starting level at 4? :P

I really...REALLY...don't recommend doing that. If I were an average player, I would want to gain EXP and GP to gain levels and get gear, hence why ganging and CSing is so prevalent here. Unless you still have that thing that levels characters up to L7 (and you can expect them to be using that a lot), why deny them what they want?

I was never planning on taking away the level to 7 option.

well the level 5 option is only popular with Red mage. and some builds aren't any good until higher levels and that just makes it take LONGER. and we dont want to discourage new players.

the only advantage i see to this is being able to get more prides ,which isnt an issue anyway.

I'm all about forcing us to start at a lower level... but I wouldn't go lower than four for this type of game. Also, I would only be in favor of it if it was a requirement for everyone -- no level to 7 option. Also... it would be nifty if you could increase the curve for lower levels until they hit around 7 or 8, change back to the current curve, and then jump back to the higher exps for level 12 or 13 or whenever it increases again. O_O

any high BAB classes would own all at lv 4 because all casters get are crummy spells (except missile) and could sacrifice 3k for a spot ammy and snag any sneaker without trying

If you don't like starting at 5 or 4 then don't. Its only there for people who like to play lower levels. The reason I don't want to force people to start low is because more people like starting at 7 then 5 right now.

But then again if I had the start level 18, people would like it too.

Benefit for starting at level 5. None, its purely for fun if they choose too.

Well, the L18 start would just be...defeating the purpose...since the object is to work your way up, no?

Which, mind you, players try to do by any means necessary. The players are in it for the benefit. They want to go higher up the levels as fast as they can; why wouldn't they start at L7, if it means gaining a potential edge against their piers? But then there's the majority choosing L7, so the edge is lost.

What I'm trying to say is that nobody's choosing to go L5 because they want to get to L20 faster.

People are choosing level 5 though. And their not all mine or Red Mages. Some people get from 7 to 20 to fast and get bored, so they try 5-20 which takes longer.

But that's an emphasis on "some". The vast majority choose level 7 over level 5 because they want to be above their opponents. That's the whole purpose of PVP builds and "tactics" anyway; to be better than the guy next to you. No matter how potent your build is at L5, if the guy right next to you is L7, you're chances of winning against him are reduced.

If we all started at level 4, you think "high" BAB classes would rock... but you forget you can hook them up with spells like daze!

And if they make the save? What happens to them?

You seem to forget that melees have a bad habit of ganging people. Sure, a mage could possibly take a melee down with MM or Combust, but could he take down 4? Not without all his fancypants buffs (Stoneskin), I don't think...

I don't foresee any PK spammers at L4. :P
