Half-Elfs? Undead?

Post by Rary »

OK, since its like a 100% agreement that they suck. How about maybe turning them into a different race?

Undead maybe with undead benefits.

I'm fine for the idea but you can't make them undead. Undead have -tons- of immunities and weaknesses which can't be blocked (Cast heal on them once and they have 4 hp left).

Undead are amazingly strong. Immunity to crits/sneaks/poison/disease/negative energy/mind spells. Perhaps make them into a goblin or something but not undead.

Outsiders maybe?

But I still think undead is better, give them to advantages and 2 disadvantages out of the total ammount.
And the same thing can happen to the living with the heal thing, the Inflict Wounds spell. And you stil have to take note of the saves required to hurt undead with healing spells. Example: Attempts Ranged Touch. That junk
The Inflict ones become their heals.

How about.. giving them a weapon prof/spec feat? They can choose any weapon. (IE they don't need exotic to use kukri ect)

Basis for this is, elves receive rapier/longbow/ect. why not let half-elves choose any one weapon and give them +2 dmg with it.

Edit: Scratch this idea, AA's become even more annoying with this.

Make a Svirfneblin.

Svirfneblin (Base Race- Gnome, Sub Race- Deep Gnome)Svirfneblin
Hidden in the depths of the Underdark live the svirfneblin, or deep gnomes. Reclusive, suspicious, and resentful of intrusion into their cavern homes, the deep gnomes share little of the humor or openness of their surface cousins. Where a rock gnome community bursts with energy, excitement and laughter, a svirfneblin city is a dull and colorless place of echoing silence and furtive motion in the shadows. All hands are raised against the svirfneblin – or so the deep gnomes believe, anyway. The deep gnome may be the world’s stealthiest and most elusive folk.

Centuries upon centuries of surviving the deadly perils of the Underdark have bred in this race an amazing gift for avoiding attention. In their cavern homes, they are nearly undetectable with magic and even in the strange and threatening (to them) surface world, the deep gnome’s natural stealth makes them difficult to spot or catch. Svirfneblin have gnarled physiques, brown or gray skin, gray eyes, and gray hair (although males are bald). Then tend to be sullen, withdrawn and suspicious to a fault.

* Racial Abilities: -2 Str, +2 Dex, +2 Wis, -4 Cha
* Special Abilities: Small Stature, Hardiness vs. Illusions, Offensive Training vs. Reptilians and Goblinoids, Skill Affinity (Listen, Concentration, Illusion), Darkvision, Stonecunning.
* Special ability: blindness 1/day, +4 AC, +2 on all saves, +2 Hide, Spell Resistance (11 + Character Level)
* Favored Class: Illusionist

Undead only have immunities if you give them immunities via a hide item. The actual race of undead will only make the player count as undead for spells (undead to dead, healing spells, etc.)

Maybe give it +2 (ability) -2 (ability) Like the other classes.

+2 wisdom.
-2 Constitution.

Just another suggestion.
