Well I -might- know what you're referring. Most spells can be dispelled. Weapon buffs however cannot be unless you target the weapon....which you can't do unless you're the person holding it. Now bioware did this on purpose so that weapon properties couldn't be removed. So that won't be changed.
Now a lot of people don't know how dispel works so I'll explain and if I get anything wrong Casas can correct me because I believe he knows more about this then myself.
Each dispel save mord's has a level cap. Lesser = 5, Dispel = 10 Greater = 15 and Mords = 20 (for our server) Now a dispel works much like a save. Inorder to dispel someone you must beat there save. Or they must save yours...really it doesn't matter it means the same thing.
So how this works. Your dispel check is considered 11+highest class level. ie: If you multi a lot you're easier to dispel. Lets work with a level 20 character for the sake of argument. This means they have a 31 dc on there buffs. Now lets say a level 20 tosses a mords on them. Every buff makes a roll. d20+20 and if they get under there dispel dc they keep there buff. If it's above then they lose it. This means that a level 20 caster has a 55% chance or resisting a mords debuffing on each spell.
Now when compared to a Greater dispel this gets kinda tricky. GD stops at 15. Therefore making the roll d20+15. So a pure level 20 cleric only needs to roll <16 inorder to make a dispel save. What this basically means is that you've got a 25% chance of dispelling each buff on a level 20 character with a GD. Basically you've got a crummy chance of dispelling anything once it reaches 20 levels in a pure class.
Sidenotes: Mords often dispels a lot more because it also acts like a Greater Breach for certain buffs so that's why mages which get hit with mords very often lose all there buffs rather then only 50%. Also natural 20's don't work in dispel checks so a Dispel will -never- be able to dispel a pure class characters buffs. You need a greater or a mords to have a shot. Basically what that means is that if something is 10 levels higher then the max dispel check then it won't ever work.
That right there is how dispel checks work. Enjoy the know-how.
