AC is a huge factor in higher levels. avg AB might be 37 but that's 37/32/27/22 <<<< Notice the lower numbers have to roll higher to hit.. against someone with 20 AC will be hit much more than someone with 40 AC. Mages WERE shielded before, they had some AC to rely on to prevent being hit by EVERY single swing from the opponent. Remember, they are a d4 class.. that's 80 HP at L20 with 10 CON.

Note: It is near impossible for a L7 mage to get more AC than a L7 melee, they'd have to be built as a PM or still caster.

I also thought we were balancing based at L20



You still didn't answer my question, why are only gnomes allowed to have evasion now?

How was ranger armor overpowering? +2hide/ms +3listen/spot? The rogue links are +6 Hide/Ms. Remember, rangers are melee rogues w/o sneak attack.. for the most part. They need some armor with +hide/ms to help them avoid detection until they attack.

You didn't address the non-rogue melee stealthers (man there's gotta be a shorter-way to say that). There are classes that use stealth in melee that rely on some +hide/ms on weapons to reach their opponent before getting keeled, mercilessly. Not every stealth class is a xd6 sneak attack hit and run.

Which spot items did you reduce? I'm not noticing any change in the detect skills. All I've seen is the removal of ranger armor/elven cloak reduced/various armors reduced or removed and that's it.

A good monk can take mages now because of .. what? If you reduce stoneskin/premo soak by 5 each, that would better than anything else I've seen you give them.

Mages get 50% conceal. Some people don't take blind fight.

And what mage takes 10 con?

Most mages use empowered endurance and alot of con gear to get their hp int he high 200s and yours casas gets 300.

Most melee builds take blind fight, or are at a serious disadvantage against bards, monks, mages, clerics, assassins, SD, or anything else that gets a concealment/darkness ability. My wiz is a dwarf built solely for CON, he's also L30, he's afforded all his gear, don't use him in balance with L20 of 190k.

+2 CON = 20 HP, base wiz HP for 10 CON is 80 HP. Gdispel rods work well.

Only difference in AC from a mage versus fighter now is mages can't wear the full plate, so their short 8 AC from them. Fighter gets a choice you use shield's. Mages get conceal and dex AC.

No. Balancing all around. Some classes are better at lvl 20 and suck at level 7. Some are even across the board from lvl 7 to lvl 20. But you have to look at the lower levels too, you can't just look at lvl 20 range.

Mostly due to them not being used much. I can remove them anyways if they aren't needed.

Giving monks +5 gloves would also help them against mages, but is this really a balanced idea?

These skill boosts were lowered on items because I added too much of the boosts since original EW and it threw off the balance of stealth on the server. Should rogue's be the stealthiest? No, I don't plan on that happening, I do plan on melee players being the stealthiest so the range stealth's don't make it out of control with CS'ing.

11 AC total from full plate, 6 AC total from Tower shield, and they get hard boots.

Well, if you're going to fix stealth, please do it in one big push. Half the stuff you talked about are not implemented. There are still rogue links with +6hide/ms.

Again, how were the ranger armors overpowering? +2hide/ms +3spot/ms compared to rogue links.. Rangers are supposed to be the best counter to rogues, do remember this.

Mages have DEX and conceal, blind fight removes half their conceal, so 25% and DEX AC now? That's about 21 AC if they took 32 DEX. Just how much are you planning on stripping them? They do need some AC, least 30~35 w/o expertise (expertise still needs to be banned for all pure casters, just as a rule).

Don't like giving monks +5 fists.. they would beat all DR, including DR barbs.. they have d20 fists my STR one cranks out 14~44 dmg a hit, 6 apr.

We've already been over mages for not one, not two, but now three posts. We all understand your feelings on them casas there is no more need to argue your points. They are nice but as a whole we don't agree. Accept this and move on. Mages had there AC's lowered and we all voted for that to be so.

I would like to see monks given +5 gloves as a test mostly. They'd beat casters -easily-. The only problem is that it may be to easily. They also wouldn't go through barb DR. Currently a DR barb can be immune to damage from monks. Str monks can do <10 damage as well. If they gained the ability to hit through there 15/+5 amulets or 10/+5 armor then I wouldn't mind. Barbs would still have 14 dr and immunity to use against them. Monks only have access to that 10/- dr as they can't wear the immunity armor. So I'd like to see +5 monk gloves tested. They might be to powerful against casters.

Ranger armor could go back in, no reason why not to.

Monks can get hit almost everytime by fighters/barbs. I do see monk's with +5's as questionable on balance, but how do they really do against other classes. My ranger tester, rogue, and barb are basically on the winning edge to monks now. a lvl 11 barb does great against the same level. So monks are definitely weak against someone that holds a weapon right now.

I'd like to give them other bonuses if possible to help against mages, so I added some anti-mage gear for the monks to see if maybe that might help.

The only spells my monk has trouble with when fighting a mage is horrid missle storms and magical shield spammers.

I don't like the fact that you can cast as many missle storms in a row as you want.

Couldn't you limit it to 1 per turn.

Horrid's is fairly easy to prevent. Especially a horrids spammer. Just sit next to his teammate on those mages. Then kill'm as a cow.

actualy i agree with A95 on that one when i use to play in EW you would get some lvl 7 spamming magic missiles which i didnt mind so much after making a wiard and sorc myself and seeing first hand why mages spam it but by lvl 10/11 you would expect them to have some different attacking spells by now but yet all they seemed to do was spam magic missiles and the only defence to them is a shield or the arti i beleive and since its impossible for a pure meele to get sheild they are only left with one option

Correct me if I'm wrong. There are 3 items that block magic missiles. Ghost rod, amulet that blocks lvl 1 or lower spells, and some armor that blocks magic missiles specifically.

ok ghostly visage i know about just fogot to mention it i know about the ammy but i didnt know about the armor and i think i made this piont to you once before

its a team server so your going to be fighting a number of classes not one so getting items to try and prevent somthing from happening is going to make you weaker to somthing else

and i totaly agree with what you have said about horrids and i always use to use that move to counter ice storm and other spells aswell

Well, you won't be able to stop a rogue, mage, fighter, and cleric coming at yet if thats what you want.

In most cases even a fighter and mage coming at. You're screwed in these combos. If you could stop both classes then you have an overpowered class.

Technically you're suppose to work as a team, (which never happens anymore) and go in and get as many as you can. You're gonna die, you should.

But if its one on one, then you should be able to stop a good bit from them.

i totaly agre with you 100% and im not saying make it impsobbile for certian classes from comming at you i was just stating a fact that no matter how hard you try and counter somthing you will always be left open to somthing else

and its ashame that the EW server has changed so much i still preffer the good old times then the new just down the the fact how people treated you and the gamming was so much fun aswell finding out ways to lower certian classes ability in somthing and being able to post about it and stuff it made everyone work as a team just to feel apart of somthing it just got everyone who cameinto the server involed the only down side was that people use to powerlevel soon as the DM's back was turned

the time i have spent playing at EW i have certian seen a decrease in newbies comming into the server and staying just because of the way we treat newbies now is pretty bad i have been playing in other servers with collin the guy that you banned from the EW server and hes been as good as gold obeyed the rules and respcted what people were saying to him my friend who is in the same company as me in the british army has started to play NWN and i told him to play in the EW server he goes by The Golden Warrior apparently hes got mocked and threatened to be raped of the server because he made 1 silly mistake which wasnt even entirely his fualt and i didnt even beleive him at first so he gave me his account and password and went into the EW server with his char and within 5 mins of playing in the server i was already threatened by my good friend greenseelves and being mocked by other people i even have some screenies to prove my piont and i dont blame the newbies for breaking the rules and constantly attacking imps and giving everyone aloads of abuse untill they get banned or whatever and the people who are monking and making threats to the newbies are the people who has chars at lvl 20 and have been playing on the server for so long that they think it gives them the right to break the rules themselves even casas was in the middle of all if this and he made his piont clear enough that he doesnt care about anyone else problems or thoughts on things but his ownwhich i thought was bad for somthing who has been given power to stop such things from happening but as soon has rary came into the server the mood in the server changed completely

rary i am not the golden warrior i was just on his account for 2 rounds to see the piont he was making
