Two Handed Blackgaurd

Post by T3hRedMage »

Anyone got any suggestions or want to share their two handed OR any good blackgaurd builds that will use all 10 levels? Don't post if you don't have a build with 10 levels.

I had trouble thinking if I wanted to use Ranger or Fighter in my BG two hander build. I ended up going 6 Fighter/ 4 Cleric/ 10 BG. The reason why I went fighter instead of Ranger is that fighters simply get more feats. Being able to afford weapon focus and weapon spec equals pretty much the bear companion +2 damage and the wolf companion +2 AB ( One more AB. ) However, Rangers can not use pendant of Ares and with Fighter you can, so you'd have an overall higher AB aswell.

Human: Couldn't afford the stat decreases on any race.

My stats were:

15 strength ( +5 all the way to 20 )
10 dex
12 con
14 wis
10 int
15 charisma

Feats:

1. Power Attack/ Cleave/ WF Heavy Flail
2. Blind Fight
3. Called Shot
4. Weapon Spec
6. Divine Might
7. ( 6 fighter ) Knockdown
9. Toughness
12. Imp Crit
15. Extra Smiting
18. Divine Shield or Imp Crit Dagger

Trickery and War Domain: Invisibility is nice for initiative. War domain = cats grace and +1 AB and 2 DR.

18 BAB + 11 Mod + 3 Flail+ 1 Bless+ 1 Focus+ 1 war+ 6 smite+ 5 amulet=
46-47 AB smites. 47-48 with dagger.

AC = 10+ 11+ 5+ 3 ring since you're wearing charisma cloak+ 4 haste+ 6 divine shield = 39 - 40 AC with heavy flail. 46-47 AC with dagger.

well here's dark samurai's build...its kinda crappy and i cant exactly remember it.

Halfling (Because they pwn all)

Fighter 9/Ranger 1/Blackguard 10

16 str (+1 at 4, 8, 12, 16, and 20)
10 dex
12 con (revised from 15 con)
10 int
8 wis
14 cha (revised from 8 cha)

1. PA, Exotic Wep.
2. Wep. Focus Katana
3. Cleave
4. Blind Fight
5. (took ranger)
6.Wep Spec. (Katana)
7. (took BG till 16)
9. Divine Might
12. Knockdown
15. Toughness
17. (6 fighter) Imp. Crit Katana
18. Divine Sheild, Imp. Crit Dagger
20. Imp. Knockdown

As you can see, this build was poorly planned out. So, its mainly built for raw power. Do not expect to get any substantial amount of AC from this build, but some Nice AB.

AB: 20 BAB + 10 mod + 3 katana + 1 focus + 5 smite + 5 amulet= 44 AB smites, 39 AB otherwise

*cant do AC calculations*

Now thats actually not half bad for a Katana Halfling

I'd recommend starting with 15 strength, so you don't end up with 31 maxed out. You can put the other two skill points on con. Also, divine might and shield might not be the best thing for that build since it doesn't support a lot of charisma with a buff. So you'd have 14, which is a 2 mod to work with. That's almost.. what? 10 seconds? Why 1 ranger? So you can start BG on level 7 and not level 8? I don't think that's worth it.

I'd go 8 fighter/ 2 bard/ 10 blackgaurd. Keep 14 charisma. Should have mage armor and tumble and a minor +1 damage, AB bard song to work with.

So that would be:

19 BAB, 11 strength mod, 3 katana, 1 focus, 1 bard song, +5 pendant, +2 smite = 42 AB smite, 40 AB otherwise.

AC would be like: 10+11+5+3+4+4+1+2with Katana
So 38-40 AC, which is good.

Just a question, which is best: a BG with shield and weapon, or a BG with a 2H weapon? Or is it just player tastes?

Totally depends on the situation and what the build is. So.. taste.

I had an idea for a build, never pounded out the details for it's:

8 Bard/ 10 BG / 2 RDD

Gnarr's Old Foggie

Has curse song, divine might and sheild along with 14-16 starting char and I can't decide between dex or dstr based. Basically dex would mean sneaking and lower damage, however damage would be quite high.

Big deal about this guy however is that it's using a QuarterStaff and has nearly 50 AC by level 20 while using it. Making it a high AC double-handed weapon user.

HP isn't very high though so it can't really beat any half decent mage...and AB isn't the greatest but hey it's pretty good at doing some nasty hits when they land.

Scrap 2 BG for two more bard, and you've gotta lame 25% conceal.

For some reason when I made this build 10 bard/ 10 BG, I could use a tower shield and still had 50% conceal. Does the bard nerfs only work if you have more bard than another class?

10 Bard by level 20 is the magic level where you can get imp invis without the penalties. One more level and they kick in.
