Top 11 Things to Help Improve Your Game
I think players are getting dumber by the year. Maybe this should help you understand why not to do what you do:
1. If you rely on dodge AC, don't run from your attacker. You're just going to get an axe in your back and with you running his bad AB from lack of dex is now the same as with a melee weapon. You might as well die trying but atleast weaken them in the process.
2. If you're a mage, use different spells from time to time. Use them against the players weakenesses. Casting ice storm 100% of the time isn't hard to stop no matter what level. Same with hold person and PK.
3. Get some variety players on your team. When your team consists of 4 rogue's its not hard for the other team to get spot & pierce DR.
4. When your on an overpowered team, just switch. Better competition and maybe more xp/gold. Because if you don't they will quit and you'll have to anyways but with alot less people.
5. If you have good tumble and someone wants to make sure you die and other teammates are near by, run in circles around your teammates. This gives all your teammates a better chance of hitting that person.
6. When fighting no melee's and only mages. Get rid of the AC gear! You don't need the +5 AC amulet on.
7. Use dispel rods if need be. Especially when your opponent is a multiclass. A bard is easier to kill dispelled than adding maybe 5 more AC to yourself.
8. Use items to block the majority of damage you receive when your out in the arena. You can't block it all, but if you're getting nailed with mostly piercing damage weapons and you have a mage hitting ya. Get items to block whatever is causing more damage.
9. Its OK to die, seriously. Don't log in another character 4 levels higher so you win more. This only makes you look like an idiot and even more embarrassing when he now kills you for 9 points.
10. Competition will make a better player. For the last 2 weeks I've been on the understacked team quite a bit and I swear I learn more on quality play because of that than being on a overstacked team. Nothing says good like killing the other team when its 7 vs 2. 2 of them higher levels. If you lose, then you can say, its expected its 2:1 ratio.
11. If you're new or your drunk. Play an easy class to get used to the server if you're new. Fighter or Barbarian should help!
12. Read your manual. Learn the game. Learn how its played. Learn your opponent!

Its not an exploit. Your using your tumble and skills to allow your team to whack him since he loses some ac.T3hRedMage wrote:That's. . exploiting.Rary wrote:5. The person shouldn't chase me then and attack my party instead of me. I consider it a tactic for those that use tumble against some high AB class.T3hRedMage wrote:It triggers unwanted AoO's from your party, which gives them an extra ' free ' attack on that person while they are chasing you.
Its the same as my teammate placing traps and I lead him through the trap.

If everybody ran from everybody all of the time then nobody would ever die.
But a little help for mages too...
You don't need to run.
When you constantly run from opponents that are just as fast as you, you get attacks of opportunity against you, you lose a majority of your AC (probably), and you can only cast a maximum of one spell per round.
When you stand still and cast defensively (and you SHOULD have combat casting), you get all of your AC, incur no attacks of opportunity, and cast two spells a round with haste.
Two spells, Full AC, No AOO's > One Spell, No Dex/Dodge AC, One Extra Attack on You.

Like that'll ever happen. Srsly, there's ALWAYS going to be more melees than there will be mages.Rary wrote:6. When fighting no melee's and only mages. Get rid of the AC gear! You don't the +5 AC amulet on.
Not that I contribute to the number of good mages, but still.
Alright.
The idea of running around so your team gets AoOs is annoying because when you go to attack a different person they will stop attacking and run.
The idea of changing out of AC gear and getting other gear vs mages doesn't work 100% of the time, the bigby spells use AC vs the DC so, if you screw your AC to 9, you are guaranteed to get bigby'd.

It happens alot. I see many people that complain about hold person and PK, yet they had a good majority of AC gear with no melee folks on. The other team had 1 wizard and 2 sorcerers.Protoss119 wrote:Like that'll ever happen. Srsly, there's ALWAYS going to be more melees than there will be mages.Rary wrote:6. That's usually when a team really starts to have problems. When they have all of ONE type of character. If it is 3 vs 3, you have a warrior rogue and cleric and they have two wizards and a sorcerer, it is INSANELY easy to buy gear against the mages only.
I guess the only time this doesn't hold true is when a whole team is full of rogue types. Nobody seems to be able to kill rogues except for other rogue-types. And nothing kills the mod faster than a team full of rogue-types.

Precisely. If there's a teamfull of mages and they're getting creamed, 9 times out of 10, they'll switch chars. Thus, it might be possible for a team full of mages to appear for a few seconds, maybe a few minutes at best, but one or two mages will switch to a rogue or something and throw the whole equation off balance.

Your assuming the other team got some intelligence and fought them like a team full of mages, but more often than not they just log saying mages are overpowered.Protoss119 wrote:Precisely. Also a team full of rogues is easy to stop, and even more at high levels. If the team doesn't have a variety of classes, they are doomed.
If you want to talk about intelligence, just around half the population is of a lesser intelligence. That is to say, they're noobs. More likely than not, a noob's going to have a melee rather than a mage, so it would be impossible to get a teamfull of mages. Now, five or six melees and a PK mage is not good, because if you gear up for melee combat, you'll likely be PK'd before you even reach the melees, and if you gear up to fight the PK mage, you'll be beat down by the melees. You could always switch to a rogue, but then again, so could the PK mage...
